年(nián)年(nián)有(yǒu )余(yú) This means to have an abundance of goods every year. 余(yú) is also a homonyms of 鱼(yú) in Chinese. The word鱼(yú) means fish, which is symbolized abundance and wealth. Therefore, in Chinese New Year, eating fish is one of the traditions but make sure to have some left over of fish because you want 年年有余 (may there be surplus year after year).
